-------------

Back in the gentle anarchy of
robins delicate on a compost
pile and kittens crawling
from a propped window glass
the ruts in logging roads are filled with drinkable water
naked from a tent, or feeling the compress
spine weary from sleeping on a marble bench
the raw sap flung deep beneath the afternoon
phone lines chirping in the nerves
a friend who ate the wires sleeping on the floor

Platforms climb to red plateau
the train rides blood to peaks of Arizona
places are not held in place
the day rakes claws across tectonic plates
we'll walk the river swell to a shot-out car
unhinge our naked selves from pleather banks
and the point of a stigmata's fervent beam
caught on cobweb in the backseat
