The highway slithers
to a mountain's foot
a path's birch sides
flutter in thumbtack wind
light murmuring from plugged-in walls
far off over the stony fences
black dirt and thick wood
for the feasting brambles
and blades in the sky
storm's fertile thorn.

Cracked moon tracing
glass electric wires
the curve of the deepening water
long journeys below
swollen intersecting roads
and the bulge of the high split lens.
