The coal broke scattering snakes
thick wheels of a rumbling throne
roaring that sorts them out
a blade the branches pulled from the trunk
dripping rubber paint and cattails
closing a watery wound
long patches with spiders' eggs
rising and ribbed gardens
sacks of tousled wheat
dabbed with blue dye
blinking at the most remote doorway
framed hallway's furthest stretch
a stationary armchair
glass patches popped and stacked
by the melted god.
