Smooth fluorescent roads
headed for the cave heart.
Sorrows relinquished
to the beating waves,
the wings in the rib cage.
Dawns that eat the lunar surf
with a beard of fire.
Girders suspended by rubber bands
in a pause of wind.

A balance of claws
and chrome feet
that leaps a thorny bridge
vent grate tunnels
and widowed heat
the river's helicopter body
pounding a ring of webs.

Lettuce dressed with razor wire
the window that covers a wall.
