Pyramids of cherry pits
in the hands of desert sands.
Polished wooden rings
shimmering around a stone planet.
The decks of empty ships
eating purple clouds.

Fangs in a severed arm's decay
become a body of teeth
shores lit by the tongues
of spreading oil.
Canoes across an open throat
that slashed at the sunrise.

Gills for a chunk of lava rock
the lumpen mouth and hard coal eyes
of a seed that swims away.
